Mogadishu, March 16, 2024 – As part of its ongoing 12th Annual Iftar Program, Hormuud Salaam Foundation demonstrated its unwavering commitment today to community support and humanitarian service through several impactful initiatives in Mogadishu today.

The Foundation’s delivered an array of Eid clothes, along with five camels and a selection of drinks for iftar at the Central Prison, ensuring that the spirit of Ramadan is shared and celebrated even within the confines of the prison. This gesture not only provides material support but also brings a sense of community and belonging to those who are often forgotten.

In a heartfelt tribute to the heroes of the nation, the Foundation extended its benevolence to the disabled veterans of the Somali National Army residing at Martini Hospital, who were injured in the 1977 war with Ethiopia. These brave individuals received financial assistance, acknowledging their sacrifices and offering a token of gratitude for their service to the nation.

Mohamed Abdi, spokesperson for the disabled war veterans, stated, “This assistance is not just financial; it’s a recognition of our often-forgotten struggles and sacrifices, and means the world to us. We are grateful to Hormuud Salaam Foundation for remembering us. This support reminds us that our sacrifices for our country are remembered and honored.”

“Hormuud Salaam Foundation believes in the power of giving and the strength of unity, especially during the sacred month of Ramadan. Our efforts are aimed at not only providing immediate assistance but also at fostering a sense of solidarity and hope among the most vulnerable segments of our society,” said Abdullahi Nur Osman, the CEO of Hormuud Salaam Foundation.

Further expanding its reach, Hormuud Salaam Foundation provided financial assistance through EVC Plus mobile money transfers to over 1,350 vulnerable people, including the disabled, orphans, mothers, refugees, and marginalized communities. This initiative is a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to alleviating poverty and supporting those in dire need, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

This 12th Annual Iftar Program is a continuation of the Foundation’s ongoing dedication to social welfare and humanitarian aid in Somalia. The Hormuud Salaam Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to uplift and support communities, reinforcing the values of compassion, generosity, and shared responsibility.
