DOHA, Qatar – The Minister of Health and Human Services of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Dr. Ali Haji Adam, participated today in the prestigious Doha Forum 2025, utilizing the global platform to address the shifting financial landscape of healthcare in Somalia.
Minister Ali Haji Adam took part in a high-level panel discussion focused on the significant impact of declining international donor support on Somalia’s health sector. With global aid budgets tightening, the Minister provided a frank assessment of the challenges this trend poses to the delivery of essential medical services across the country.
To navigate these challenges, the Minister outlined a strategic shift toward self-reliance. He emphasized the urgent need to strengthen domestic health financing mechanisms, reducing dependency on external funding. Furthermore, Dr. Ali Haji Adam strongly advocated for expanding Global South-South Cooperation, arguing that developing nations must collaborate more effectively to share resources and solutions.
The Minister highlighted specific opportunities for new partnerships, investment, and knowledge exchange. He noted that these elements are essential for building a resilient healthcare system capable of withstanding economic shocks and meeting the long-term needs of the Somali population.
The Minister is accompanied by a senior delegation, including the Director General of the Ministry, Dr. Guled Abdijalil Sheikh Ali.
