Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) Mr. Mahamuud Moallim participated today in a high-level meeting on the Global Shield Somalia In-country Process Workshop, focusing on a gap analysis for climate disaster risk finance.
The meeting brought together Cabinet members, MPs, and FGS officials to discuss the urgent challenges posed by climate change and how Somalia can access effective funding mechanisms to mitigate its growing impacts.
Commissioner Mahamuud stressed that climate-related disasters are intensifying, making it vital for Somalia to secure sustainable and long-term financial support to prepare for and manage these risks.
By investing in sustainable finance solutions, Somalia aims to strengthen resilience against natural disasters and safeguard vulnerable communities.
