Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The President of Galmudug State of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor, paid an official visit today to the headquarters of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA). He was warmly received by SoDMA Commissioner, Mr. Mahamuud Macalin Abdulle.
President Qoorqoor and his delegation were briefed on the agency’s core responsibilities and operations. Discussions highlighted the devastating impact of the ongoing drought, the active military campaigns against Al-Shabaab in Galmudug, the significant decline in humanitarian aid contributions, and SoDMA’s ongoing relief efforts across the country.
The President also announced that Galmudug will once again host a high-level humanitarian coordination conference, scheduled to take place on April 22 in Gaalkacyo, Mudug region. The conference aims to strengthen cooperation and improve the humanitarian response across the region.
President Qoorqoor toured various departments within the SoDMA headquarters and held a general meeting with the agency’s leadership. He expressed his gratitude for their consistent efforts in disaster management and reaffirmed his administration’s support for their vital work.
