Addis Ababa, (SONNA) — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Abdisalam Abdi Ali, on Wednesday attended a ministerial-level meeting of the African Union Peace and Security Council (AU PSC) at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, focusing on the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) and the situation in Sudan.
During the meeting, Minister Abdisalam expressed his appreciation to the leadership of the African Union and troop-contributing countries for their continued support to the AUSSOM mission. He underscored the importance of the one-person, one-vote elections held in Mogadishu, describing them as a historic milestone in Somalia’s political development.
The minister also welcomed Somalia’s election to membership of the AU Peace and Security Council, noting that it reflects growing confidence in the country’s role in promoting peace and stability at both regional and continental levels.
