Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Lady Sahro Omar Hassan, officially registered today in Dharkeynley district to obtain her voter card ahead of the upcoming national elections, which are expected to be held soon across the country.
Speaking during the registration, the First Lady encouraged all eligible Somali citizens to actively participate in the voter registration process and seize the opportunity to elect leaders who represent their political convictions. She emphasized that participation in elections is not only a constitutional right but also a civic responsibility vital to the development of representative governance.
“Obtaining a voter card is more than a step in the election process; it is a powerful expression of a citizen’s voice, trust, and role in shaping the country’s future,” she said.
Madam Sahro Omar Hassan also commended the efforts of government institutions and the Somali public in advancing the rollout of a one-person, one-vote electoral system. She described it as a significant step toward building a democratic state rooted in the will of the people.
Voter registration is progressing smoothly across Galmudug, South West, Hirshabelle, and the Banadir region, with citizens showing strong enthusiasm and commitment to securing their voter cards.
The First Lady concluded by urging all Somali citizens to take advantage of this crucial moment and contribute meaningfully to building a future shaped by their collective voice and aspirations.
