Mogadishu, Somalia (SONNA) – Today, on the 63rd anniversary of the liberation of the northern regions of Somalia from British colonization, First Lady Sahra Omar Hassan delivered a heartfelt congratulatory speech, expressing her warm wishes and appreciation to the Somali people on this momentous occasion.

Addressing the nation, Mrs. Sahra Omar conveyed her congratulations to all Somalis, regardless of their geographical location. She acknowledged the historical significance of this event, known as the Land Day, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy throughout Somalia.

“I extend my congratulations to the Somali people, wherever they may be. This significant occasion marks the historical Land Day, which we celebrate tonight, commemorating the 63 years,” said Mrs. Sahra.

The First Lady’s message carried a sense of pride and unity, emphasizing the importance of commemorating this milestone in Somalia’s history. The Land Day serves as a powerful reminder of the Somali people’s struggle for freedom and independence, as well as their enduring spirit in the face of adversity.

Reflecting on the achievements and progress made over the past six decades, Mrs. Sahra highlighted the resilience and determination of the Somali people. She expressed her confidence in the nation’s ability to overcome challenges and continue on the path of unity, success, and prosperity with the guidance and blessings of Allah.

As the nation observed this momentous day, celebrations were held across Somalia, with communities coming together to honor their heritage and commemorate the sacrifices of their forefathers. Festivities were marked by vibrant displays of national pride, cultural performances, and traditional dances.

The commemorative events also provided an opportunity for reflection and gratitude. Participants took a moment to honor the heroes and heroines who fought for Somalia’s liberation, expressing gratitude for their sacrifices and pledging to uphold the values they fought for.

The First Lady’s speech resonated deeply with the Somali people, who have shown remarkable resilience and unity in recent years. It served as a reminder of the progress made in building a stronger and more prosperous Somalia, while also acknowledging the work that still lies ahead.

As the celebrations concluded, the spirit of patriotism and unity continued to reverberate throughout the nation. The Somali people remain determined to forge a brighter future, guided by the principles of unity, peace, and progress.
