Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Ministry of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia has issued a strong warning to businesses and individuals evading or obstructing the payment of national taxes.
Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Abdikhafar Elmo Haange, chaired a high-level meeting today focused on strengthening domestic revenue collection, particularly the enforcement of value-added tax (VAT), road tax, and rental income tax. The meeting brought together the Head of the Tax Enforcement Unit, the Attorney General, the Director General of Revenue, and other senior officials.
Following in-depth discussions and assessments, the ministry announced that firm legal measures will be taken against anyone found guilty of tax evasion or manipulation. The Ministry of Finance, in coordination with the Tax Enforcement Unit and the Office of the Attorney General, agreed to prosecute all tax-related violations in court, warning that no offender will go unpunished.
