Federalw Government of Somalia’s Weekly Briefing
Mogadishu, Friday, 25th October, 2024

1-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud returned to the country after visiting Troops Contributing Countries (TCC) of Uganda, Burundi, Djibouti and Kenya, and held talks with their leaders.

2-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has spoken to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the phone to express his condolences over the terrorist attack in Ankara.

3-Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre attended the presentation of the performance of the Benadir Region administration in 2023-2024.

4-Prime Minister Mr Hamse Abdi Barre participated in a conference on the use of technology in the financial system held in Mogadishu.

5-Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre has appointed new ministers including Abdisalan Abdi Ali who was appointed as the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister.

6-The Cabinet has approved a defense agreement between Somalia and Tanzania.

7-A number of cabinet members have welcomed 195 young Somalis who were trapped in Libya in Mogadishu.

8-The Finance Minister Bihi Iman Ige has participated in the annual meeting of the World Bank and the IMF, presenting the progress achieved in the country’s economic reforms.

9-The Minister of Planning Mr Mohamud Abdirahman Farah said that the Government of Somalia has succeeded in reducing poverty and increasing the country’s economy.

10-The Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy Mr Ahmed Hassan Adan inaugurated the fourth conference on the country’s fisheries in Jowhar.

11-The Somali National Army has killed about 30 members of the Kharijites Al Shabab in operations carried out in the area of Qaycad in the south of Mudug region.

12-The King of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim, received the credentials from the new Ambassador to Somalia, Mr Ali Mohamed Abukar.

13-The Minister of Health, Dr Ali Haji, has launched a health care project that will benefit more than 50,000 students who are suffering from vision problems.

14-The Ministry of Information mourns the death of poet Sugaal Abdulle, who was a member of the Somali Police Force band of Heegan.

15-The Somali National Army has killed about 40 members of the Kharijites Al Shabab terrorist group in military operations that took place in Yaaqle area of Middle Shabelle region and Garile area of Galgaduud region.

16-The Somali embassy in Yemen has succeeded in repatriating 157 Somali citizens who have been stranded in the country for some time.

17-The Auditor General of Somalia Mr Ahmed Isse Gutale participated in the high-level meeting of the Audit Planning Conference of the East African Economic Cooperation EAC held in Mwanza, Tanzania.
18-The government of Somalia in Mogadishu seized the aid shipment that was donated by Turkey to Somalia.

19-The Commander of the Somali Police Force, Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi, chaired an emergency meeting attended by all the commanders of the leadership and various police departments.

20-The Governor of Banadir Region Mr Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madale) received the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Mr Wang Yu.

21-The Deputy Commender of the Somali land Forces Brigader General Abdullahi Aden Hussein(Irro) Inspected the areas recently liberated from the khawarij Group in the Middle Shabelle and lower Shabelle regions.
