Federal Government of Somalia’s Weekly Briefing
Mogadishu, Wednesday, 09 August, 2023

1- President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in the town of Dhusamareeb in Galmudug, while the FGS is gearing up for the beginning of the completion of the 1st phase of the military operations to eliminate the Kharijites Al Shabab.

2- The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud chaired the meeting of the National Security Council to discuss the completion of the plans to liberate the country and the war against the Kharijites Al Shabaab terrorists.

3- The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, met with a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who delivered a message from King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

4- The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held meetings with the traditional elders of Galmudug and discussed about how they should play an important role in the fight to eliminate the Kharijites Al Shabaab in the remaining areas of Galmudug.

5- The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, has officially opened the National Blood Bank Center, which was much needed by the Somali community for long.

6- Prime Minister Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre received the British Ambassador to Somalia Michael Nithavrianakis in his office, and discussed strengthening the relationship and cooperation between the two countries.

7- The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, received in his office the Advisor for Democracy and Human Rights of the United States Department of State, Mr. Hamse Warfaa, who arrived in the country.

8- The Prime Minister of the Government of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, has participated in an event where the Ministry of Education presented the results of the certificate examination for the 12th grade (secondary schools) of the school year 2022/2023.

9- The Cabinet of the Federal Government of Somalia has approved the Somalia Labor Bill by a majority.

10- The government of Somalia has condemned the barbaric act in which armed men killed children living in Galgudud.

11- The Somali National Army, with the help of their international partners, killed 45 Al-Shabaab insurgents, including their leaders, in Qoob Yahaas area near Buule-Burde District in Hiran region.

12- The Somali National Army and their international friends destroyed 4 vehicles with explosives prepared by the Kharijites Al Shabab in Mukayle area of Bula Burte District in Hiran, killing all the militants involved in that evil act.

13- The Ministry of National Security held an awareness meeting in Mogadishu about the fight against the Kharijites Al Shabab terrorists in the country.

14- The Minister of Information of Somalia Mr. Daud Aweis Jama who spoke to the press said that the National Security and Intelligence Agency (NISA) has arrested 10 government security officers who were spies for the Kharijites.

15- The Minister of Defense of Somalia, Mr. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, accompanied by the Commander of the National Army General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyadin, have attended the closing ceremony of a training for units of the National Commandos Force of Danab at the Military School in Balli-Doogle.

16- The Minister of Defense of Somalia Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur has called the public to refrain from supporting the Kharijites Al Shabab and their propaganda.

17- The Governor of Banadir Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu Mr. Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madaale) who held a press conference at his office spoke about the land related disputes that have been happening in the capital for the past few days.

18- The Auditor-General of the nation, Mr. Ahmed Isse Gutale, spoke at a press conference in Mogadishu about the annual audit report of government agencies.

19- The Minister of Fisheries and the Blue Economy of Somalia held a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia and discussed the cooperation between the two countries.

20- The Chairman of the Somali National Disaster Management Authority, Mr. Mohamud Macalin Abdulle, met with the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Fea Shengchao, and discussed the issues of relief and disaster prevention.

21- The Ministry of Information of the Federal Government of Somalia, in cooperation with the Jubbaland State, conducted training on the role of girls in the management of media organizations in Kismayo for 30 female journalists.

22- The Ministries of Planning and Education to work together to develop the country’s education plan.

23- The Chairman of the Somali National Disaster Management Authority of SoDMA, Mr. Mohamud Maallim Abdulle, had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Arab League to Somalia, Salah Ahmed Junaydi.

24- The Banadir Regional Court is still in the process of hearing the case against officials of government agencies who are accused of corruption.

25- The administration of Ceel Bur District in Galgaduud Region has said that they are ready for the liberation of the district which was held by the Kharijites Al Shabab for many years.
