Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Federal Republic of Somalia condemns in the strongest terms the criminal attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces against civilian facilities and relief convoys of the World Food Programme in the states of North and South Kordofan. These attacks have resulted in civilian casualties.
Somalia affirms that these acts constitute flagrant and grave violations of international humanitarian law and all relevant international norms and conventions.
The Federal Republic of Somalia demands that the Rapid Support Forces immediately cease these violations, fulfil their legal and moral obligations to protect civilians and ensure the safe and unconditional delivery of humanitarian assistance, and fully comply with the Jeddah Declaration on the Protection of Civilians in Sudan.
Somalia reaffirms its unwavering position in support of the unity, sovereignty, security, and stability of Sudan, supports regional and international efforts aimed at ending the war, and warns of the dangers of any external interference that could directly fuel the conflict and prolong the humanitarian suffering of the brotherly Sudanese people.
