MOGADISHU, SONNA – Somalia’s upcoming local council elections represent a significant opportunity for the nation to embrace a new era of democratic participation. This was the central theme of a discussion featured on a Somali National Television broadcast, involving a journalist and Suldaan Mohamed Abdi Gaas, a representative of the Somali diaspora.

Suldaan Mohamed Abdi Gaas highlighted the elections as a crucial chance for the Somali people to exercise their democratic rights and actively shape their future. The conversation focused on the significant transition from a clan-based system to a multi-party system, which was praised as a positive and inclusive step toward more representative governance.

The journalist and Suldaan Mohamed Abdi Gaas emphasized the need for unity and participation, urging all Somalis, both at home and abroad, to engage in the electoral process to ensure the country’s progress and stability. They referenced the successful transitions of other nations, such as Uganda, as a source of hope for Somalia’s political future.

Furthermore, they commended the government for its efforts in organizing the elections and fostering a peaceful and fair environment for the democratic process. The discussion concludes with a strong message of encouragement for all citizens to participate in this historic moment for the nation.
