Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Electoral Commission has officially responded to mounting concerns regarding the integrity, fairness, and transparency of the Southwest State presidential election scheduled to take place tomorrow, Wednesday.
In a formal statement aimed at defusing rising political tensions, the commission addressed key administrative and procedural demands to guarantee a level playing field for all competing candidates.
The commission announced the implementation of strict transparency measures, including an outright ban on mobile phones, cameras, and recording devices inside the immediate voting area to protect the freedom and anonymity of the ballot. Furthermore, the commission emphasized its ongoing collaboration with security agencies to establish a completely neutral voting venue, isolated from any political interference or institutional pressure.
Reiterating its constitutional mandate to deliver a credible and peaceful process, the Electoral Commission called upon all political stakeholders, traditional elders, and civil society to cooperate fully to ensure tomorrow’s voting concludes smoothly, transparently, and without incident.
