Cairo, (SONNA) — Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, met with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, to discuss arrangements for the deployment of Egyptian forces within the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). The meeting took place on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to ensuring the success of the mission and strengthening its role in supporting security and stability in Somalia, stressing the importance of securing adequate and sustainable funding to enable the mission to effectively fulfill its mandate in coordination with international partners.
This stance reflects Egypt’s continued commitment to supporting joint African efforts aimed at consolidating peace and stability in Somalia and across the Horn of Africa region.
