Mogadishu, (SONNA) – In a landmark meeting that marks the beginning of a new era, Djibouti’s First Council of Ministers of 2024 convened to address the major burning issues affecting the region. The Council, representing a diverse and dynamic new leadership, underscored its commitment to fostering regional stability, economic integration, and collective wellbeing.

One of the primary points on the agenda was the situation in Somalia. The Council firmly reiterated Djibouti’s unwavering principle of supporting Somalia’s unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty. This stance comes at a crucial time when the region is grappling with various challenges, including security concerns and the need for political stability.

The Council also emphasized the importance of regional economic integration. Recognizing the interconnected nature of the countries in the Horn of Africa, the ministers advocated for a harmonious path towards economic collaboration. This approach aims to strengthen regional ties, enhance trade, and promote sustainable development, benefiting all countries involved.

Furthermore, the Council highlighted the necessity of wisdom and dialogue in addressing the complexities of the region, known for its fragile political and social fabric. The ministers called for diplomatic efforts and peaceful resolutions to ongoing conflicts, underscoring the need for cooperation and understanding among neighboring states.

The Council’s resolutions reflect Djibouti’s growing role as a key player in regional diplomacy and its commitment to being a force for stability and progress in the Horn of Africa. The outcomes of this meeting are anticipated to have significant implications for the region’s future, setting a tone of optimism and collective action.
