Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The First Deputy Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Hon. Sadia Yasin Haji Samatar, held a meeting with Representative Samakab Hussein, a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives in the United States. The meeting was attended by other senior officials, including the Secretary-General of the House, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdulle (Jaabiri).
Representative Samakab expressed gratitude to the parliamentary leadership for the warm welcome and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Somalia’s development and strengthening the image of the Somali diaspora in Minnesota. He also briefed the Deputy Speaker on the general situation of Somali-Americans in Minnesota, their contributions to public service, and their growing role in U.S. politics.
Deputy Speaker Sadia Samatar emphasized the importance of increasing awareness among the Somali diaspora to enhance their role in national development and bilateral relations.
The visit concluded with a tour of the parliamentary chambers and offices, followed by a lunch and informal gathering at Mogadishu’s Liido Beach in honor of the visiting delegation.
