Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi, attended the signing ceremony of the Somalia Economic and Social Acceleration Project, a joint initiative between the Federal Government of Somalia, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and several Somali private sector companies.
Deputy Prime Minister Jibril hailed the project as a clear example of effective collaboration between government institutions, the business community, and international partners to achieve sustainable development and create opportunities for the Somali people.
“This project is more than just a development programme—it is a living example of how government entities, private businesses, and global partners can stand together behind a shared vision,” he said.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment under the DanQaran administration to fostering an open and enabling business environment through reforms in taxation, trade regulations, and investment policies to promote innovation and local entrepreneurship.
The project will focus on strengthening the business climate, youth employment, and digital development. Over 1,000 young Somalis will receive vocational and digital skills training to enhance their employability or start their own businesses, while 500 Somali enterprises—many led by women and youth—will directly benefit from the programme.
