Mogadishu, (SONNA) — Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Salah Ahmed Jama, today presided over the handover ceremony between the incoming Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mahmoud Ahmed Aden (Geesood), and his predecessor, Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi.
In his remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Jama urged the new minister to advance the government’s vision of boosting trade, strengthening the economy, and enhancing industrial development. He emphasized the importance of increasing Somalia’s industrial productivity and expanding international trade relations, especially following the country’s recent accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Jama highlighted the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s pivotal role in Somalia’s economic growth, calling on Minister Geesood to lead efforts in streamlining trade processes, promoting economic development, and fostering a more dynamic business environment.
The leadership transition comes at a crucial time as Somalia looks to deepen its global trade integration and revitalize its industrial sector.
