Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Salah Ahmed Jama, today received the newly appointed United Kingdom Ambassador to Somalia, Mr. Charles Nicholas King.
The two officials held discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of security, politics, counter-terrorism, electoral development, and the acceleration of UK-supported development projects in Somalia.
The Deputy Prime Minister briefed the ambassador on the government’s recent achievements, including progress in the fight against Al-Shabaab and the implementation of one-person, one-vote elections. He noted that voter registration is already underway in several parts of the country.
Ambassador King welcomed ongoing dialogue between the Federal Government, political stakeholders, and civil society, emphasizing the UK’s support for Somalia’s state-building, security reforms, and efforts to combat extremist groups.
