Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Salah Ahmed Jama officially launched the “Ugbaad” project, an initiative aimed at enhancing agricultural resilience in the face of climate change. The project was approved on October 24, 2024, during the 40th meeting of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Board in Songdo, South Korea.
The Ugbaad project seeks to strengthen the ability of communities and agricultural systems to adapt to climate change by supporting land restoration efforts and reducing environmental degradation. It is expected to benefit nearly two million people, providing sustainable land management solutions and boosting food security.
The launch event was attended by government ministers, ambassadors, and other officials.
