Moroni, Comoros – Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Ali Ifiye Ali, recently participated in a high-level conference on the blue economy held in the capital city of Comoros, Moroni. The conference brought together coastal and small island nations of Africa to discuss strategies and initiatives for sustainable development in the marine sector.

The conference, attended by prominent delegates and experts, focused on various aspects related to the blue economy, including sustainable fisheries, marine resources management, and ocean conservation. The participants engaged in fruitful discussions, sharing experiences and best practices to promote responsible practices in the exploitation of marine resources.

The declaration underscored the commitment of the participating nations to collaborate and implement sustainable measures in the blue economy sector. It emphasized the importance of responsible fishing practices, marine conservation, and the equitable distribution of resources.

During the event, Deputy Minister Ali Ifiye seized the opportunity to hold productive side meetings with regional Ministers of fisheries and blue economy who were in attendance. These bilateral discussions aimed to foster stronger cooperation, exchange valuable insights, and explore potential areas of collaboration among the nations. It demonstrated the commitment of Somalia to actively engage with regional partners in advancing sustainable practices in the fishing and blue economy sectors.
