Minneapolis (SONNA) – The Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adala, held an official meeting with the Mayor of Minneapolis, Mr. Jacob Frey. The meeting aimed to strengthen ties between the city administration and the Somali community, and to discuss cooperation in cultural development, tourism, community engagement, and economic growth.
During the meeting, Mayor Frey briefed the Deputy Minister on the general state of the city, its public services, and the significant role the Somali community plays in urban development and building a cohesive society. He also highlighted various programs offered by the Minneapolis city government to support the diaspora, particularly in education, healthcare, employment opportunities, and tourism promotion.
Deputy Minister Al Adala expressed his gratitude to the Mayor for the warm reception and emphasized the importance of maintaining close cooperation between the Somali community and the city administration. He noted that the meeting represents a key step in enhancing collaboration, as well as expanding opportunities in culture, tourism, and community services for both Minneapolis and the wider Somali diaspora in the United States.
The discussion also covered practical ways for the Somali community to contribute to cultural and tourism development, as well as social services. Both sides agreed to establish ongoing collaboration in the fields of media engagement and public awareness initiatives.
