Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Deputy Governor for Public Works of the Benadir Regional Administration, Mr. Cabdimajiid Daahir Aadan, today inspected the reconstruction of roads connecting the Xamar Jajab and Waaberi districts of Mogadishu.
The visit followed Mayor of Mogadishu Dr. Xasan Maxamed Xuseen (Muungaab)’s recent payment to resume the project, which had stalled due to lack of funds. Mr. Cabdimajiid met with the construction company and underlined the importance of the road for easing traffic and improving public movement between the two districts. He urged workers to accelerate the construction so the road is completed on time and congestion in other parts of the city is reduced.
The project, which began earlier but was halted for seven months because of unpaid costs, resumed earlier this month after the municipal government settled outstanding payments.
The Benadir Regional Administration has in recent years financed the reconstruction of several key roads, redirecting funds that were previously misallocated to individuals not officially employed by the administration.
