Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Ahmed Moalim Fiqi stated that the Al-Shabaab militant group is currently in disarray and on the run following sustained military operations by government forces and local community fighters.

Speaking to the national media, Minister Fiqi said, “At this moment, the Khawarij are in a state of panic, trying to flee from the battlefield. They are no longer able to hold their ground.”

The Minister praised the Somali National Army (SNA) and local forces for their recent successful operation in the Hiiraan region, which resulted in the elimination of several key commanders and fighters from the extremist group.

Minister Fiqi emphasized that efforts are underway to fully retake areas still under the control of the militants. He noted that the Ministry of Defense, in collaboration with the Somali National Army leadership, is carrying out coordinated and strategic preparations to secure those territories.

The Federal Government of Somalia, with the support of the Somali people and international partners, remains committed to the complete eradication of Al-Shabaab, whom it views as a persistent threat to national sovereignty and the true values of Islam.
