Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence confirmed that this morning at approximately 5:45 AM, Al-Shabaab militants launched an attack on Gumarre near Moqokori in the Hiiraan region. The Somali National Army and local forces responded swiftly, engaging the enemy for two hours and inflicting heavy casualties. More than ten militants were killed, and Gumarre is now fully secured by our forces.
At the same time, joint operations by the SNA and Macawisley fighters targeted enemy hideouts in Guulane, Daaru-nicma, and Alkowsar, Middle Shabelle. The operation in Guulane successfully neutralised two notorious commanders, Mohamed Adow and Ali Xabad, both responsible for terrorising local communities and extorting civilians under the guise of religion.
Additionally, the SNA and by Macawisley fighters, conducted an operation in Moora Godan, Raaga Ceelle district, Middle Shabelle dismantling an Al-Shabaab facility used to treat wounded militants and plan attacks.
Further offensives in Baani, Lafaale, and Abal, to the south-west of Xudur, Bakool region, carried out by the Somali National Army, forced militants to abandon their hideouts as the Army advanced.
