Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, met in Cairo with the Minister of Defence of the Arab Republic of Egypt, General Abdel Majeed Saqr, along with senior officers of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
The meeting focused on strengthening military cooperation between the two countries and supporting efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
Minister Fiqi commended Egypt for its significant role in advancing peace and stability, noting that both nations share a common vision on key strategic and mutual interests.
For his part, the Egyptian Minister of Defence expressed his country’s readiness to further enhance military cooperation between the two nations, and also confirmed that Egyptian troops contributing to the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) will soon be deployed to Somalia.
