MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al-Muwallad, at his office in Mogadishu today.
The high-level meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations, with a particular emphasis on security and defence collaboration.
During the discussions, Minister Fiqi expressed deep appreciation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s significant and ongoing support to Somalia. He specifically commended the Kingdom’s role in the defence sector, highlighting their contribution to counter-terrorism efforts and various projects aimed at enhancing the capacity and operational capabilities of the Somali National Armed Forces.
The Minister emphasized that the support provided by Saudi Arabia is a crucial component in the Federal Government’s efforts to ensure the stability of Somalia. He noted that this cooperation is vital not only for national security but also for maintaining peace and stability across the wider Horn of Africa region.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to further deepen ties and continue cooperation on matters of shared security interests.
