Mogadishu, SONNA — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, accompanied by the Minister of Interior, Ali Yusuf Ali, and the Commander of the Somali National Army (SNA), Brigadier Major General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud, today visited the Sabiid and Caanoole areas in the Lower Shabelle region to oversee the resettlement of families displaced by the Kharijites group.
The visit aimed to fulfill the Government’s commitment to stabilizing recently liberated areas and accelerating community recovery efforts following military operations that cleared the region of extremist elements.
During the visit, displaced residents were relocated to newly constructed homes built after the liberation of the areas, marking a significant step in restoring normalcy and rebuilding livelihoods.
In addition to housing support, officials supervised the delivery of food assistance and other relief services to vulnerable families. The initiative is intended to strengthen the daily living conditions of affected communities and fast-track the reconstruction and stabilization of the liberated districts.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its determination to ensure that areas freed from extremist control are not only secured militarily but also supported through sustained humanitarian assistance and long-term development initiatives.
