Mombasa, (SONNA): A significant week-long conference on counter-terrorism and countering hate speech, organized by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), has successfully concluded in Mombasa, Kenya.
During the conference, IGAD Secretary-General Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu and Deputy Secretary-General Mr. Mohamed Abdi Waare emphasized the critical importance of regional efforts to combat extremism and the spread of terrorizing ideologies by extremist groups. Their speeches underscored the need for comprehensive reports and strategies to eradicate such threats to societal stability.
The event’s closing ceremony was led by IGAD Director of Counter-Extremism, Dr. Simon Nyambura, who presented certificates of recognition to cultural figures, scholars, and media representatives who actively participated in the conference. The conference’s success highlights the region’s ongoing commitment to enhancing security and fostering resilience against extremist ideologies.
