Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, today participated in the Validation Conference on Somalia’s National Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) Strategy, held in Mogadishu. The event brought together senior officials, including the National Security Adviser, H.E. Ambassador Aweys Haji, the Minister of Internal Security, Gen. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail, and representatives of Somalia’s international partners.
In his remarks, Minister Fiqi reaffirmed the MoD’s commitment to strengthening the capabilities of the Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF) to confront the threat posed by IEDs deployed by terrorist groups. He underscored that the success of the strategy will depend on unity of effort, shared responsibility among national security institutions, and continued close cooperation with Somalia’s international partners.
The Minister commended the Central Monitoring Department (CMD) of the Office of National Security for its leadership and tireless efforts in preparing and coordinating the strategy. He stressed that this initiative is vital to safeguarding Somali lives and enhancing peace and stability.
