Beijing (SONNA) – On December 12, 2024, the Somali Ambassador to China, Ms. Hodan Osman Abdi, officially presented her credentials to the President of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, in a ceremony held in Beijing.
Somalia holds the distinction of being the first country in East Africa to recognize China in 1960. Since then, the two nations have enjoyed a robust relationship characterized by diplomatic relations and trade cooperation rooted in mutual benefit and historical ties.
During the China-Africa Summit in September this year, the bilateral relations between Somalia and China were elevated to a strategic level. This elevation further strengthens their cooperation and partnership, marking a significant milestone in their enduring friendship.
The presentation of credentials by Ambassador Hodan Osman Abdi shows the ongoing commitment of both nations to foster closer ties and enhance mutual understanding and collaboration on various fronts.
