Beijing (SONNA) – On December 12, 2024, the Somali Ambassador to China, Ms. Hodan Osman Abdi, officially presented her credentials to the President of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, in a ceremony held in Beijing.
Somalia holds the distinction of being the first country in East Africa to recognize China in 1960. Since then, the two nations have enjoyed a robust relationship characterized by diplomatic relations and trade cooperation rooted in mutual benefit and historical ties.
During the China-Africa Summit in September this year, the bilateral relations between Somalia and China were elevated to a strategic level. This elevation further strengthens their cooperation and partnership, marking a significant milestone in their enduring friendship.
