Mogadishu(SONNA)-Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Qin Jian has expressed deep appreciation to Somalia’s solidarity with China and overcome in fighting the epidemic while assuring that China has a firm confidence in overcoming this, SONNA reported
“ Somali Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Health, on behalf of Somali Government and people said at this difficult time, Somalia is with China and supports Chinese people in fighting the epidemic and believes that China will be able to overcome it”, Qin Jian said in a joint press conference with Somali Ambassador to China, Awale Ali Kullane Tuesday.
Mr. Jian said that a nationwide mechanism has been put in place and decisive measures have been taken to contain and mitigate the epidemic in a science-based, coordinated and targeted manner.
“We have the confidence, capacity and determination to defeat the epidemic. China puts people’s interest first, is responsible for the people’s life safety and health and undertakes international obligations for global health and safety, China’s fighting the epidemic is not only to protect of its citizens, but also for the health of the people of the world”, He told reporters.
Speaking about the concern of foreigners including Somali students in the Coronvirus hit town of Wuhun, he assured that they are safe and sound. We put the life and health of Chinese and foreign nationals in our country as the first priority. He said.
On his side, the Somali Ambassador to China, Awale Ali Kullane said that Somalia stands with China to show solidarity at this difficult time, hoping China would achieve its efforts to combat the virus.
“Our message to China is stay strong, we stand here to express our solidarity with China, and we commend China to the hard work and efficiency on how they are combatting this epidemic virus”.
He said that there were 42 Somali students in Wuhun city in China and they are fine with no problems, telling the friendly governments know the situation of the students.
Over 59,000 cases of Coronavirus outbreak confirmed and 1,362 deaths in China and spread to about 30 other countries so far.
