Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Governor of Benadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Mohamed Ahmed Amiir, chaired a high-level meeting focused on supporting Somali National Forces and local community defense units in their ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab militants, as well as accelerating security measures across the capital.
The meeting was attended by Benadir’s Deputy Governor for Security and Politics, Mohamed Ahmed Diiriye (Yabooh), along with district commissioners from across the region. Key discussions centered around enhancing collaboration between communities, district administrations, and security agencies, with a particular focus on strengthening the “neighborhood watch” initiative to identify and prevent the infiltration of extremist elements into local communities.
Governor Amiir reaffirmed Benadir Administration’s unwavering commitment to backing Somali National Forces and local fighters, pledging comprehensive support to those on the frontlines. He also highlighted the sacrifice of several district commissioners currently deployed alongside forces in combat zones.
This meeting marks a significant step toward reinforcing cooperation between authorities and civilians in the collective effort to secure Mogadishu and eliminate terrorist threats.
