MOGADISHU, SOMALIA – In a significant legal development, the Court of Appeal of Banadir Region handed down verdicts in two high-profile cases involving officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank, and the Immigration and Citizenship Agency.
After conducting eight sessions, the court reached a decision in the first trial, sentencing Omar Ma’allin Noor and Abdullahi Mahmoud Osoble to one year of imprisonment. Sabir Hassan Abdinur received a harsher sentence of two years and six months. In a turn of events, Adan Mohamed Abdi was acquitted of all charges, clearing his name in the process.
The second trial, which spanned seven sessions, focused on allegations of money laundering and illicit investment activities. The court found Abukar Mohamed Ali guilty, imposing a six-year prison term. Mohamed Adan Abdullahi was sentenced to one year in prison. Meanwhile, Abdiqadir Abdi Sodal was found not guilty and acquitted of all accusations.
