Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Governor of the Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), accompanied by regional officials, on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the construction of Jamhuuriya Road in Karaan District, part of the Banadir Region.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Muungaab said the road project is part of broader development initiatives being implemented by the Federal Government of Somalia, particularly in Mogadishu.
“One of our key responsibilities is to return part of the taxes collected from the Somali people back to them by investing in economic infrastructure,” Muungaab said.
The Banadir governor emphasized that development projects will be implemented fairly across all districts of the region, based on the real needs of Mogadishu’s residents.
Construction of Jamhuuriya Road is expected to be completed within six months. The project includes a dual carriageway measuring 3.5 kilometers on each side, bringing the total road length to approximately 7 kilometers.
