Mogadishu, Somalia – June 26, 2025 – The Banaadir Regional Police Command yesterday, June 25th, released a series of directives aimed at ensuring public safety and order during today’s Independence Day celebrations across the region. The commands are designed to regulate various aspects of the commemorations, which are expected to draw large crowds and involve widespread public gatherings.

Issued by the top brass of the Banaadir Police, these directives underscore the critical importance of maintaining peace and security throughout the independence festivities. While the full specifics of all the orders were not immediately detailed, it is understood they encompass key areas such as comprehensive traffic management, effective crowd control measures, and the proactive prevention of any activities that could potentially disrupt public tranquility.

These measures represent a routine yet essential part of ensuring that national celebrations proceed smoothly and safely for all citizens. Independence Day is a profoundly significant occasion in Somalia, traditionally marked by widespread patriotic displays, diverse cultural events, and numerous public assemblies. The police command’s actions were a proactive step to facilitate these celebrations while minimizing any potential risks.

The Banaadir Police Command urged all residents to cooperate fully with law enforcement personnel and to adhere strictly to the issued directives, thereby ensuring a peaceful and joyous commemoration of Somalia’s independence. Further details regarding specific road closures and designated public gathering points would have been communicated following yesterday’s announcement, guiding citizens through today’s events.
