Nairobi, (SONNA) – Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle took part today in the opening of the Annual Migration Conference held in Nairobi under the theme: “Securing Sustainable Solutions for Migration in Somalia.” The gathering comes at a critical time as the Somali government ramps up programs and strategies aimed at addressing irregular migration and displacement.
Speaking at the opening session, Ambassador Jabril highlighted Somalia’s progress in migration governance, noting, “It is worth mentioning that Somalia has established a dedicated office for migration, return, and child rights — a major step forward in structuring migration management.”
The conference was jointly organized by the Office of the Special Presidential Envoy for Migration, Return, and Child Rights (OSPE), the Eastern Africa Institute for Peace and Governance (EAIPG), and the University of Nairobi’s Faculty of Social Sciences.
Ambassador Jabril emphasized that the collaboration reflects Somalia’s firm commitment to finding lasting solutions to the challenges posed by migration. The conference is expected to conclude with evidence-based reports and actionable recommendations for stakeholders working on migration and human mobility issues.
