Since coming to work in Somalia, local friends often asked me: What is the original aspiration and founding mission of the Communist Party of China as a long-term ruling party? The Governance of China（III) by Chinese President Xi Jinping states in a high way that “the CPC has always taken it as its original aspiration and founding mission, and made it the focus of its efforts, to work towards a happy life for the Chinese people and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.”
The aspiration and mission embodies and manifests the CPC’s nature, ideals, convictions, and goals, and is based on Marxism. At the same time, it reveals profoundly that the CPC comes from the people and is rooted in them, and that their support is a source of inexhaustible strength for the successful advancement of various undertakings led by the CPC.Looking back at the history of China’s revolution, economic development, and reform and opening up, the fundamental reason why the CPC can lead the people from victory to victory is that it has always adhered to the aspiration and mission in good or bad times, always winning the wholehearted support of the people. The CPC and the Chinese people have always been close as fish and water, and related by flesh and blood.
The Chinese Communists shall continuously stay true to its original aspiration and assume its founding mission. The world today is undergoing major changes unseen in a century, and China is in a critical period for realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. We have built a moderately prosperous society in all respects, achieved the first centenary goal as scheduled, and embarked on a new journey of comprehensively building a modern socialist country. Staying true to the original aspiration means keeping in mind the fundamental purpose of serving the people wholeheartedly by the party, and that the people’s yearning for a better life is our goal; to assume the founding mission is to keep in mind the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation shouldered by the CPC, take up responsibility, fully implement the new development paradigm, so as to form a strong joint force to promote the implementation of the “14th Five-Year Plan”, continuously bridge the gap between the ever-growing expectation of the people for a better life and unbalanced and inadequate development, and address issues of concern to the public to continuously enhance people’s sense of gain, happiness and security.
It is noteworthy the aspiration and mission of the CPC is also fully embodied in the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind as advocated and practiced by China. Indeed the CPC seeks happiness for the Chinese people while striving for the cause of mankind’s progress. China advocates running our own house well first, while creating more opportunities for the rest of world through our own development. We will achieve social development through our own actions, and share our experience with other countries.
There are many successful examples of the CPC in staying true to the aspiration and assuming the mission nowadays, most prominent among them, the achievement of the SDG on poverty eradication ten years ahead of schedule and the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. Facing the sudden breakout, the Chinese government under the leadership of the CPC followed the people-first approach, put the safety and health of every person front and center, and wholeheartedly carried out the people-centered governance philosophy. Adhering to the consistent way of living in the Chinese civilization, which is amity, good neighborliness and harmony, China has carried out the largest global emergency humanitarian action in its history to implement the vision of a community of human health. China provided various types of anti-pandemic assistance to over 150 countries and nine international organizations, and sent 36 medical expert teams to 34 countries in need. China is the first one promising to make vaccines a global public good. Not withstanding its own difficulties, China is providing free vaccines to 53 countries in need as well as exporting to 22 willing to buy. The that are getting free vaccines from China include Somalia and other brotherly African countries. China has provided several batches of anti-pandemic material assistance to Somalia before. We remain firm in our conviction that, by following the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, through mutually beneficial cooperation among all countries and pursuing the path of multilateralism, mankind will finally overcome the pandemicand contribute to the building of a community of human health and a community with a shared future.
