ALGIERS, Algeria – The President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, H.E. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received a high-level delegation from the Federal Republic of Somalia at the presidential palace on Thursday. The delegation was led by H.E. Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, the Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education, acting as the Special Envoy of the Somali President.
During the reception, Minister Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir formally delivered a written message from President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to President Tebboune. The communication follows a series of diplomatic engagements by the Federal Government of Somalia to strengthen ties with key African partners. While the specific contents of the message were not publicly disclosed, the meeting highlights the close fraternal relations between Mogadishu and Algiers and the importance of high-level coordination on matters of mutual interest.
The Special Envoy was accompanied by a senior diplomatic team, including the State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Ali Omar (Ali Balcad), and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Algeria, H.E. Yusuf Jeego. Their presence indicates the strategic weight the Somali government places on its relationship with Algeria, a significant power within the African Union and the Arab League.
On the Algerian side, the talks were attended by top-ranking officials from the presidency and the cabinet. Participants included Mr. Boualem Boualem, the Director of Cabinet at the Presidency, and Mr. Amar Abba, the Advisor to the President in charge of Diplomatic Affairs. Also in attendance was the Algerian Minister of National Education, Mr. Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui, reflecting the dual nature of the visit involving both diplomatic and educational cooperation.
