Mogadishu, (SONNA) — In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) conducted an airstrike targeting al-Shabaab militants approximately 40 miles northwest of Kismayo, Somalia.
This operation is part of the ongoing joint efforts to eliminate the operational capacity of al-Shabaab extremists, who continue to pose a serious threat to Somali civilians, national security forces, and international partners.
The Federal Government of Somalia expresses its gratitude to AFRICOM for the support and reaffirms its unwavering commitment to combating terrorist groups. With the strong support of the Somali people and international allies, Somalia remains determined to ensure peace and stability across the country.
