Addis Ababa, (SONNA) — The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Mohamed A. Hayir Maareeye participated in a high-level ministerial meeting in Ethiopia alongside IGAD regional bloc Agricultural Ministers to discuss food insecurity and the growing impacts of Climate Change on the region.
“I had the privilege of attending a high-level ministerial meeting in Addis Ababa with fellow Ministers of Agriculture from the IGAD regional bloc and our development partners. The discussions focused on addressing food insecurity and the growing impacts of climate change across our region,” Minister Maareeye said.
During the meeting, the Minister shared updates on Somalia’s recovery progress, outlined the national plans for strengthening food systems, and highlighted the key initiatives the Ministry of Agriculture is implementing to reduce hunger and drive economic growth.
Somalia reaffirmed its strong commitment to working closely with IGAD member states to confront the critical challenges facing our region including climate change, insecurity, natural disasters, and food security. The Minister expressed Somalia’s readiness to play a leading role in these collective efforts.
