Stuttgart, Germany – The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the Somali government to eliminate the threat posed by Al-Khawarij. AFRICOM emphasized that these groups remain a significant danger to regional and global security.

In a recent statement, AFRICOM detailed a successful joint operation conducted on the 25th of this month in the Al-Kowser area of Somalia’s Middle Shabelle region. The operation dealt a heavy blow to Al-Khawarij militants, disrupting their plans and weakening their operational capabilities.

The operation was launched at a critical time when Al-Khawarij groups were reportedly organizing a deadly attack. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Somali National Army and international partners, the plot was thwarted, potentially saving countless lives. AFRICOM praised the collaboration, stating that such operations are essential for maintaining security and stability in the region.

The airstrikes specifically targeted Al-Khawarij militias engaged in violent activities in middle Shebelle area. AFRICOM’s statement highlighted that the operation was conducted with precision to minimize harm to the local population, and no civilian casualties were reported.

AFRICOM reiterated its determination to continue supporting the Somali government in its fight against extremism. The command stated, “Operations against the Khawarij will persist until these groups are fully eliminated and no longer pose a threat to the people of Somalia and the broader international community.”

The Somali government has welcomed AFRICOM’s ongoing support, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in combating terrorism. The recent operation indicate the progress being made in degrading the capabilities of extremist groups, though challenges remain in fully eradicating their presence.

The fight against Al-Khawarij is part of a broader effort to restore peace and stability in Somalia, which has endured decades of conflict and instability. The Somali National Army, alongside international partners, continues to make strides in reclaiming territory and dismantling extremist networks.

As operations against Al-Khawarij intensify, AFRICOM and the Somali government remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of the Somali people while working toward a future free from the threat of terrorism.
