Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Federal Government of Somalia returned 99 Somali citizens who were incarcerated in the prisons of Libya.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) worked together to bring back the citizens who were imprisoned for illegal immigration, and were welcomed by the Special Presidential Envoy’s Office for Migration Returnees and Children’s Rights, Maryan Yasin Jama and Rage Osman who is the Director of Arab department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Rage told the media that the citizens were 88 male and 11 female and 47 among them were dropped at Hargeisa and the rest to Mogadishu.
The Director thanked President Hassan Sheikh, the IOM and the Embassy of Somalia in Libya, urging the Somali youth to stay in their country and let this be an example. He also said that there are others still stranded in Libya and they plan to return them soon.
