Somali Ambassador to Kenya opens SOMINA in Nairobi

(SONNA). The Somali Ambassador to Kenya Mr. Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle officially opened the Somali Investment Academy (SOMINA) at Strathmore University’s Business School today. This collaborative effort between the International Financial Corporation (IFC) a member of the World Bank Group and Strathmore University aims to provide training and support for entrepreneurs.

During the inauguration event Ambassador Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle emphasized the academy’s role in fostering an environment for developing business skills and entrepreneurial mindset among Somalis. He expressed his excitement about SOMINA highlighting its significance as not an institution but a nurturing ground for future business leaders who will drive economic progress in Somalia and beyond.

SOMINAs establishment comes at a juncture as Somalia’s business landscape undergoes changes. The academy serves as a platform where both aspiring and seasoned entrepreneurs can acquire competencies to thrive in a competitive market. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to encompass aspects of business management such as planning, financial analysis, marketing strategies and leadership techniques tailored to address the distinct challenges and opportunities, within Somalia.

This innovative initiative aims to cultivate a pool of professionals who can contribute towards enhancing the sector’s development in Somalia. By taking this step it fills a need, in the market for well educated business managers and entrepreneurs who understand modern business practices and can navigate the complexities of the global economy.

The participation of the IFC in this initiative highlights the community’s commitment to promoting economic development in Somalia. The IFC brings a wealth of expertise and resources to the academy, including access to networks, funding opportunities and best practices in business education. This collaboration is anticipated to elevate the quality of training offered at SOMINA and ensure that it aligns with standards.

Additionally, Strathmore University plays a role in this partnership. Recognized for its excellence in business education Strathmore will provide guidance and administrative assistance to the academy. Ambassador Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle encouraged the students of the program during his address.
