OUAGADOUGOU (SONNA) — The Minister of Internal Security for the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), held an executive session with the Head of State of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, today. Operating on an official state visit, Minister Fartaag delivered a direct message from the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
The diplomatic mission focused strictly on establishing a collaborative security framework. Recognizing the parallel challenges both nations face regarding asymmetric warfare and extremist networks, the leaders committed to formalizing international cooperation. The agreed parameters include advancing counter-terrorism operations, executing joint military training programs, and engineering a direct pipeline for intelligence sharing between their respective state security apparatuses.
This engagement demonstrates Somalia’s aggressive expansion of its global security alliances. By establishing tactical relationships with nations in the Sahel region, the Federal Government is actively building a cohesive, cross-regional coalition designed to dismantle decentralized terrorist threats and secure long-term state stability.
