Mogadishu, SONNA — The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today received the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Tom Fletcher, at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu.
The meeting focused on Somalia’s humanitarian priorities and ongoing recovery efforts, with both sides underscoring the importance of sustained partnership and effective coordination to address the country’s pressing needs.
Discussions highlighted the critical role of the Somalia Disaster Management Agency in leading and coordinating national response efforts, as well as the importance of aligning international support with Somalia’s strategic priorities.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and ensuring that humanitarian assistance is delivered efficiently and reaches vulnerable communities across the country.
Both sides emphasized the need for continued collaboration between Somalia and its international partners to support recovery, resilience, and long-term development.
