Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Somali National Armed Forces have successfully liberated the area of Hawadley in the Middle Shabelle region, which had previously been used as a hideout by Al-Shabaab terrorist militants. This success is part of Operation Badr, being conducted during the holy month of Ramadan, which targets locations used by the terrorists as safe havens. Several positions and storage facilities used by the group were destroyed during the operation.
National forces are currently working to secure the area, while operations continue to pursue the remaining militants and conduct clearance activities in the newly liberated locations.
The Ministry of Defence and the Somali National Army Command reaffirm that operations against the terrorists will continue to intensify in order to ensure the safety of civilians and eliminate any locations used by the group as hideouts.
