Jeddah, SONNA – The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned what it described as “dangerous and irresponsible” statements made by the US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, calling them an unacceptable call for the expansion of Israel, the occupying power, and the seizure of additional Palestinian and Arab lands.
In a statement issued by its General Secretariat, the OIC said the remarks were based on what it characterized as a false and rejected historical and ideological narrative. The organization stressed that such claims violate the sovereignty of states, diplomatic norms, principles of international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the UN Charter.
The OIC General Secretariat warned that extremist ideological rhetoric could fuel further extremism and encourage the Israeli occupation to continue what it described as illegal measures, including displacement, settlement expansion, and attempts to impose annexation on the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
According to the statement, such actions pose a serious threat to security and stability across the region.
The OIC reiterated its unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The organization called on the international community to uphold international law and relevant UN resolutions to ensure a just and lasting peace in the region.
