The African Union, through the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), congratulates the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Somalia, particularly the leadership, officers, and men and women of the Somali Police Force (SPF), on the occasion of the Force’s 82nd anniversary.
“For over eight decades, the Somali Police Force has remained a vital pillar of public safety, the rule of law, security, and community stability in Somalia. Despite operating in a complex and evolving security environment, SPF personnel have consistently demonstrated professionalism, courage, and dedication in protecting civilians, maintaining law and order, and advancing national stabilisation and state-building efforts,” said the SRCC and Head of AUSSOM, H.E. Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Diene.
Ambassador Diene reaffirmed AUSSOM’s solidarity with the Somali Police Force, noting that the Mission continues to provide critical support in close coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia and international partners.
“Through capacity-building, training, mentoring, and operational assistance, AUSSOM is supporting efforts to strengthen policing institutions, enhance community-oriented policing, for an accountable, and people-centred police service,” he said.
“As the Somali Police Force marks this important milestone, AUSSOM reaffirms its unwavering commitment to supporting Somalia’s security institutions and the Somali-led transition towards sustainable peace, stability, and the rule of law. We pay tribute to the sacrifices made by SPF personnel and wish the Force continued success in the years ahead,” Ambassador Diene added.
